Merino/silk is a lovely, full-bodied luxury base that is not superwash treated. It is excellent for sweater knitting and after washing the stitch definition becomes even more beautiful and fuller, and it can easily be knit together with a mohair and used for one of Petiteknits' many beautiful designs. It can be knit on wooden needles as well as metal needles. Many sensitive people can tolerate it because the merino in it is a fine merino. If you are wool-allergic, you need to go up to AKW scale A and look for your yarn, but if you are "just" sensitive, you should easily be able to tolerate this yarn.
